Work Weekend
Written by Jacob Burkett
The young adults worked on various projects around the campgrounds on May 14th and 15th. A few projects they worked on included power washing cabins by the Auditorium, re-constructing campfire pit, power washing the roof on the Canteen, along with cleaning bathrooms in the lodge. The rain slowed progress down a little but the weekend was a success in helping to improve the overall looks of the campgrounds.

Big Summer scheduled for Brush Creek
Written by Jacob Burkett
Once again Brush Creek is scheduled to have a busy summer. One of the most talked about events is the Community of Christ sesquicentennial celebration which will be hosted during the June Reunion. Campground officials are expecting large registration numbers for this event. Registration forms for both June and July Reunions can be found on the Reunion page. Also there will only be three youth camps this year instead of four. Be sure to check out the Youth Camps section for more information on the youth camps. The schedule for the summer can be found under the Schedule section. We hope that you can join and worship with us this summer.
What does the camping season mean to you?
Written by Jacob Burkett
I remember when I was little, the excitement that grew when we were getting ready for camp. I couldn't wait to get there to see my friends and roam the grounds. I always liked it when we could get there early, sometimes the night before registration. It would give me time to get reacquainted with my surroundings and reminisce on memories of previous camps. One of the first things I would do when Mom said we were done unloading would be to walk to the other side of the campgrounds to the Lodge. I would walk in and read all the name tags on the doors to see who was going to be there. I was excited when I saw names of friends from far away that I only got to see at camp. I would usually then walk around the lake while thinking of what the week would be like. Slowly people would start making their way onto the grounds and before long another camp was in full swing. Year after year Brush Creek has been a constant rock in my life. I have felt extremely blessed to always of had Brush Creek in my life. The experiences there have definitely shaped me into the person I am today. It will always be a part of my life and I will always have strong ties to it. It is where I met the woman who is now my wife. It is where I proposed and got married to my wife. And it is also the place where my wife went in to labor with our first child. But most importantly it is where at a young age sitting around a campfire I realized my desire to want to serve my Heavenly Father and my desire to devote my life to the Lord. I'm excited about my 2010 summer experiences at Brush Creek. I hope that you are able to join us and that you too are excited and looking forward to wonderful experiences at camp. I know that the Lord is going to bless us and I don't want to miss out. How about you?

Brush Creek Kitchen Update
Written by Jacob Burkett
To The Brush Creek Mission Center Congregations
In behalf of the Brush Creek Campground Board, we express our sincere thanks for the kitchen offering. Bill Knapp, our treasurer, reports we have received $15,255.25 so far from the congregational offerings. This is great and we appreciate your generous response. If there are some congregations that have not sent Bill your offering, we encourage you to do so. Thanks again.
We have ordered two new Garland Stoves and one Garland Convection Oven for the kitchen. This is what those who work in the kitchen listed as their number one recommendation. Cliff is painting the kitchen. Shelving will be installed before the camping season starts. We will do these ourselves with talented volunteer carpenters. Some additional items will be purchased for the kitchen.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year at Brush Creek. Make your plans to attend reunion. Encourage the youth from your congregation to attend youth camp. Great blessings are in store as we prepare and share in worship and fellowship at Historic Brush Creek.
